Carvin, France - As You know this 1st season Indoor contest was organized by ZN Line. This time, held from Nov 24 to Nov 25, it served the purpose to evaluate the Official French Rules for F3A Indoor contest. This was also is the first Indoor contest of the Indoor season. They were 15 competitors including Christophe Paysant-Le Roux(CPLR) and Benoît Paysant Le Roux(BPLR, also Christophe's brother. He placed 13th in the '95 F3A WC). In fact 3 of the F3A French Team participated: CPLR, Arnaud Poyet and Pascal Nowik. The French F3A Team Coach, Catherine Mathon, was also present.

This time Carvin was the First Wold Wide F3A Indoor contest: with the experiment of the federal French rules for F3A indoor. The formulae may become or would generate FAI F3A indoor rules in the future. The contest was assessed by 3 F3A federal French judges including Pascal lauel, former F3A French team member and responsible for the F3A indoor rules. The rules are quite detailed in a Federal Paper could be summarized as follows:

Plane weight Max: is 420g (will be increased up to 450g or slightly more may be)

Flight duration: 4min

First 2 figures are fixed. First manoeuver being a 360° Circle. 2nd manoeuver is a Horizontal (Flat) eight. Then the competitor can choose 4 figures among a list of 33 with coefficient from 1 to 8.

Extra Info: N° 33 is circle with 3 outside rolls. Most of flyers performed this when their plane was able to. Double Immelman, Triangle loop, Diamond square, 4 point roll received a Coefficient between 5 and 6.

Surprisingly, maybe due to it being 1st trial contest and the presence of top F3A participants, the 15 Flyers present for the F3A Contest came very well prepared with nice prototypes plane for the event. The most impressive were (again): CPLR With an original design of 1m x 1m and weight of 275g including the battery of 11 cells x 110mA and a German geared reduced motor (1/11.3 ratio Micro DC 1624) with an indoor prop of 8 or 9 x4,7. Both prop & engine were very quiet. The flights were outstanding and a dream to see(Webmaster: as with all of Christophe's demostrations). The audience was so impressed that you had no noise. I mean total silence during Christophe flight, such that you could ear the servos moving in each manoeuvre. Benoît was also very impressive with a bigger machine(Edge 540). The total weight was 418g. Powered with a Classic Speed 300 engine gear reduced 1/5 with a 11x4.7 indoor prop and 7 cells 500ma.

This Carvin ZN Indoor RC Event is becoming a “classic”. No doubt, the exceptional traditional presence of Christophe and now with brother Benoît, plus the warm atmosphere of the event exchanges between competitors and creativity, you can see that this will establish ZN Indoor event as a Real “Classic”.- Serge Bordais
