Introduction
ZN Line's Madness is made of premium quality light balsa, never seen that before on a so-called Premium class ARF kit! As with Nicola, I was impressed by the box packaging. Like all ARFs, there are some minor problems with the kit: the fuel tank is a little too fat to fit in the fuselage! This should give you an opportunity to verify your modelling skills. The firewall thickness is robust enough but not thick enough to match the blind bolts. That's about it. ZN Line will correct these flaws to make the perfect ARF kit! Nicola would like an instruction notice. This will also be fixed by ZN Line. But I guess no one modeller will be so highly demanding as to blame this because everything is so well prepared.

Finishing
The covering is made of Oracover film. Again the quality is there. The covering will not come loose, and if you damage it, it can be repaired with the very same film quality and colour.
You can see on my plane the cowl was paint with same color(metallic yellow), similar to the Yellow oracover - ZN Line was so kind to provide me with the paint. However, it can be prepared by any car paint dealer on request! As with Nicola, I would have liked to have it already painted(how lazy we are with ARF..), but it is nice to have the chance to give to this ARF a sign of your own personality.

Engine
The MVVS is great and a smooth engine with quite a linear throttle. I usde the special MVVS carburetor that actually works fine. I also added the MVVS rear gas needle to save my fingers. The engine is easy to buy, with such a good pricing for a very good engine. You can set it as side or rear exhaust (choose before to break-in). I chose it as a side exhaust. With the MVVS 2 chambers muffler, and with 15% Nitro, it swings an APC 12.5x 3.75(very wide) at 11,400 rpm on the ground, and with stable idle. Believe it or not, at 1,900 rpm(using Cool Power 15% Nitro and Enya 4 glow Plug) I got more than enough power. The YS 53 with 12.5x3.75 is good too. The YS 63 has lots of power. Nicola Rossi is using an APC 14x5 , and it seems to be good! Christophe Paysant-Le Roux is using the YS 63 and APC 13x4. He believes the APC 14x4 would be the best when available. You should know that Christophe sets a throttle limitation of 50% to 3D maneuver indoor or small area. (YS engines are available @ Singapore Hobby Supplies)

Settings
If you ask CPLR & JP Zardini, "Where is the CG located?", they do not know the answer themselves! If You push them for an answer, they don't even care, because the plane is so healthy! However the 33% to 37% value given by Nicola is a good one. I don't like to have a rudder servo installed as Nicola did. However, I accept it is smart to do this to add weight on tail and Ben Perreau(USA ZN Line Partner) did the same. This enables a very direct link to the rudder, and permit to use solid Pull-pull wires from servo to the rudder.

I place the receiver battery in the fuselage, rear of the wing(also for CG location). It is a 1100 Ma 6V Nimh battery. Keep in mind that 3D maneuvers uses far more current the normal aerobatics. Include a cell voltage indicator(like VoltSpy), so you can check the voltage at all times. You can easily use all the battery capacity and crash. This happened to P. Nowik and Myself. It cost me just the cowl and a prop, and I can say this light ARF plane is very robust! So check your battery before each flight.

I used an old Futaba S9001 for Ailerons and Rudder(this one in classic position), 2 Graupner JR Numeric DS 3328 and one micro Robbe Futaba RS 500 for throttle. The 2 JR D 3328 weight only 25g Each for 4kg.cm of torque! It has speed and precision. But 2 good standard servos of 50g each would be okay and permit a better CG Location.

I used the following settings on my Madness:

Low rates: Ailerons +/- 30 mm expo - 50%; Elevator +/- 25 mm expo - 40%; Rudder +/- 120 mm expo -80%

High rates: Ailerons +/- 50 mm expo -60%; Elevator +/- 50 mm expo - 60 %; Rudder +/- 120 mm expo -80%

Overall
This plane is the evolution of the first 3D plane by Christophe Paysant-Le Roux(name was 3 DEMO). All others are only copies!! I do consider the ZN Line Madness as a master piece and a great classic . Let's see how the demanding Japanese RC Flyers will welcome this one!!
